The Gatsby Style Stamp

Reference:

This theme often referred to in author F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic, 1925 novel "The Great Gatsby." As one of fifteen stamp designs depicting the spirit and freedom of 1920s America, as well as remembering such profound events as the passage of a woman's right to vote, the enforcement of prohibition, and the stock market crash of 1929, "Gatsby Style" is a part of the Postal Service's landmark "Celebrate the Century" stamp-image and educational program.

Point of View:

From my point of view I appear this is a party that wealth people or people in power attend. A while people are talking about their businesses. As you see they are all dressed formally for the party. They all turn to see a luxurious green car coming which is probably owned by the person throwing the party. An intertextuality view of this image the “The Gatsby Style Stamp” portrays a point of American history where the connection between events and social values, images of time, extravagant parties, and the quest for wealth. The background in the photo “The Gatsby Style” is showing the glamorous lifestyle of the rich and famous of few American’s in the late 1920s. Giving a sort of elegant and enjoyable image, for example their combined focus on the richly appointed automobile, seemingly just out of reach.
